PhD and PostDoc positions available

We are looking for motivated candidates with a background in cell- and molecular biology and/or biochemistry to join our team in the lab of ‘Membrane Traffic and Signaling’ (PI: David Teis) at the Division of Cell Biology @ Biocenter, Innsbruck Medical University, Austria (http://www.i-med.ac.at/cellbio/).
The aim of the project is to identify molecular mechanisms that mediate and control lysosomal membrane protein degradation.
We focus on two main questions:
1. What are the molecular mechanisms that regulate the ESCRT mediated degradation of membrane proteins in lysosomes?
2. How do cells react to loss of ESCRT function and the subsequent intracellular accumulation of membrane proteins? Do cells activate a specific membrane stress response?
To address these questions, we are using yeast and epithelial cells as the best suited model systems.
The positions are open immediately.

If interested, please send your application (CV & two contacts for reference) per email to David Teis (david.teis@i-med.ac.at).
