PhD AND POST-DOC POSITON IN CELL AND DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY. INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY AND CANCER, NICE, FRANCE

Position available immediately in a collaborative project between Pascal Therond and Catherine Rabouille laboratories to functionally characterize Hedgehog secretion in Drosophila. The project aims to gain insight into the secretion of the Hedgehog protein family using electronic microscopy, cell biology and genetic technics. The Hedgehog proteins are the only metazoan proteins known to possess a covalently- linked cholesterol moiety. We have developped a combination of genome-wide RNAi screen and electronic microscopy to investigate its mode of release and identified a new sub-cellular compartment involved in Hedgehog secretion.

Knowledge of and experience in genetics, cell biology and/or electronic microscopy are advantageous but not necessary. The position is funded for 2-3 years in duration, starting winter 2010. The candidates must have a Ph.D. degree, and can be nationals of any country.
