A full-time postdoctoral position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Fredric Manfredsson, within the Department of Translational Science & Molecular Medicine at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine. The fellow will work
collaboratively to study the role of alpha-synuclein in enteric nervous system dysfunction and pathology in Parkinson's disease, with opportunities to work on additional projects. Applicants must have a PhD or MD/PhD or DVM/PhD degree.
The successful applicant will take part in a highly interdisciplinary research program which involves molecular biology (cloning, expression analysis, protein analysis, etc.), viral-mediated gene therapy, tissue culture, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, animal surgery and behavior,and advanced histological methodology and analysis. Consequently, the successful applicant should have significant experience in a subset of these areas, whereas training will be provided in others. The ability to conduct high quality statistical analyses is desired and good command of written and spoken English is required.
The Department of Translational Science and Molecular Medicine provides a vibrant, and highly interdisciplinary, research environment that includes an NIH-funded, Morris K. Udall Center of Excellence in Parkinson's Disease Research.
